Your sounds, not a preset library
A pad grid is only as good as what's on it.
Most online drum pads hand you a fixed set of sounds and a grid to trigger them — fun for a minute, then it's the same kit as everyone else's. TAIL goes the other way: every pad is empty until you put something on it. A drum kit, a record rip, a bounce off your phone, a voice memo recorded ten seconds ago. That's what makes the grid yours.
And it behaves like the hardware it descends from — mutegroups so the closed hat chokes the open one, banks so a kit and a set of chops live side by side, and a sequencer that holds the pattern while you keep playing. Need to slice a loop into the pads first? The waveform editor is one tap away, in the same browser sampler.

Yes, where the browser supports Web MIDI. Plug in a pad controller and the pads respond to it; on a phone or tablet the touchscreen is the controller, which is what TAIL was designed around in the first place.
TAIL is built for your own sounds — drop in a drum kit, a loop, a record rip, or a voice memo and it becomes a playable pad in seconds. That's the difference between this and a fixed-sound drum machine: nothing here is locked to a preset library.
The pads are free in the browser with no installation and no signup to play. A free account unlocks saving and reopening projects, and the native iOS/Android app is a small one-time purchase for offline use on your home screen.
